Hole In The Hedgerow

Poetry, Stories, and Other Musings With Spilt Ink

Story Untold

I want to escape the rhythm of the day to day

Vodka poured into my mouth from atop a balcony

I need hiking on a mountaintop somewhere high

I need thin air to remind me that I’m alive

Something more exciting than the yellow lights

Traveling somewhere while on a commute

Nurture an open heart

Chase the roads less traveled

I want villains and heroes and long-lost loves

Cocktails in hand in a center of people

I need adventure and stories to tell

And to get out by the skin of my teeth

Something more than a life so ordinary

Traveling to the beat of my day to day

Believe in my soul

Chase my story untold.

One response to “Story Untold”

  1. It would be nice if we grew to be a society which permitted a healthy balance of both of these states together, rather than requiring us to choose just one and then go way overboard on it, wouldn’t it? Like the happy people of Oz, work half the time and play the other half?
